Spitfire Mk. Vb AB910 was built at Castle Bromwhich, England and was
delivered on August 22, 1941 to 222 Squadron at North Weald. After serving
with several squadrons, including 133 (Eagle) Sqn, it was put into storage
at the end of the war and then was sold in 1947. The plane was in various
civilian hands before being donated to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
in 1965. The aircraft was shipped to the U.S. to participatein the U.S.
Air Force's 50th Anniversary Golden Air Tatoo at Nellis AFB, NV, in 1997.
Spitfire Tr.9 TE308 was built as a single seat Mk. IXe in 1945. It was assigned to 39 MU at RAF Colerne in June of that year and was placed in storage at the end of the war. The plane was sold to Vickers-Armstrong in 1950 and was converted to the Tr.9 configuration for the Irish Air Corps. It was flown as IAC 163 until 1968 when it then passed into private hands. . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
